BELINDA AGUILAR

FOR PRESIDENT

Belinda Aguilar is a first-generation Mexican American, U.S. Army veteran, and longtime labor leader who joined CWA in 2014 after a successful career in sales at AT&T Mobility. During her eight years of military service, she served in Germany as part of NATO’s Joint Endeavor peacekeeping mission. Within CWA, Belinda advanced from Steward to Organizer, Vice President, and President, becoming the first elected Latina President of CWA Local 6222 in Houston. She also serves as a Unity at Mobility Coordinator, Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO, a CWA national representative at Pride@Work, and a Harris County Broadband Task Force Board Member. Fluent in Spanish, Belinda remains committed to worker advocacy, organizing, community service, and developing the next generation of union leaders.

I am running for re-election because the work of strengthening Local 6222 has only begun. My goal is to build a stronger, more engaged local by educating and empowering members across every department, expanding our organizing efforts, and ensuring that our union is present, visible, and effective wherever our members need representation.

Vision & Priorities

  • Organizing & Growth: Expand external organizing efforts to strengthen and grow Local 6222.

  • Community & Political Action: Increase our presence and influence in the communities and political decisions that affect working families.

  • Strong Representation: Ensure members across every bargaining unit and department receive knowledgeable, consistent representation.

  • Member & Steward Education: Develop informed members and well-trained stewards who understand the contract, their rights, and how to effectively advocate in the workplace.

Proposed Accomplishments / Record

During my leadership, Local 6222 has continued to expand its reach and strengthen its representation. I successfully organized an IHX unit of approximately 200 members and am currently working to grow two new Premises Technician units. Local 6222 became the only Texas local represented across all three AT&T Southwest bargaining units, participating in the 2024 AT&T Mobility and DIRECTV bargaining and the 2025 AT&T Southwest bargaining. Our local also successfully passed its 2025 Department of Labor audit.

In 2023, Edgar was elected Secretary-Treasurer, a position he continues to serve in today. With decades of experience and a deep commitment to the membership, he remains dedicated to strengthening the union and upholding the values of CWA.

I am seeking reelection as Secretary-Treasurer to continue providing responsible, transparent stewardship of our Local’s finances while ensuring our records remain accurate, current, and accountable to our membership.
